Rating I was very interested in this e-book. I even added it to my cart, but when I checked the shipping cost I decided not to buy it after all. $42 to send a DVD to the UK seems a bit much. I will carry on looking for a similar product that has a reasonable total cost.

This is an excellent introduction to using the free software program,Google Sketchup, for furniture design. It is well organized, progresses step by step, is easy to understand and once you are finished with this course you are confident in using sketchup for designing all your projects. After downloading the program you can put this course on the left side of your computer screen and the sketchup program on the right and get down to learning. The program starts with the basics of how to set up sketchup for woodworking, then discusses navigation, use of basic tools and fundamentals of drawing and measurements. Then it's on to moving, copying and rotationg objects, and then come a number of projects including dovetail joints and a raised panel door. Circular work is discussed. The process of designing a piece first with a conceptual design, and then secondly with detailed components is emphasized. There are lots of hints about additional resources to consult, and finally information on making cutlists and printing your work. With each chapter is a short video which demonstrates the topic and proves to be very helpful. I spent a couple of hours each day for about two weeks with this e-guide, and I now feel quite confident in using Sketchup. Cudos to Bob Lang.
