The Foundations of Better Woodworking

Haven't received the book yet. The download ad says "two project plans", but you really only get one project plan. The other "project plan" is how to re-use old planes. An interesting article, but not a project plan in my book.

Just like a house, woodworking, too, has a foundation, which I had not considered in that sense until I read this book.So now I am really aware of my stance at the bench and at the lathe, and taking more notice of marking, measuring and sawing. Jeff even discusses how to practice our skills to improve, since perfect practice makes perfect!. The book is extremely well written, informative and thought provoking. I am waiting for a big snow day just to read it again, it is that good.

I've read an advanced copy of this in the last few weeks and found it easy to follow, and easy to put the concepts Jeff covers into real-life applications.

His overview of body position, mechanics and monitoring feedback to constantly improve technique were principles he taught me while working as an apprentice with him. I've covered a few of the principles he covers in his book (top-line) here on a recent post.

The book's graphic design and layout set the bar for future publications in the category. Great job Jeff and PWW!
