"In my work at the magazine, I tried to explore the projects that had been overlooked and present methods of building that make exposed joinery approachable and possible. The projects in this book were chosen selfishly; they are pieces I wanted to make for myself, challenges I wanted to take on, and side trips to the less-travelled areas of the Arts & Crafts period. The issues and needs that original pieces of Craftsman furniture addressed are still with us, and making this furniture is an excellent way to both fill your home and let your family and guests know that quality material, sound design and good craftsmanship are still worthy values.” - Robert W. Lang

An Arts & Crafts furniture reference and construction handbook Review by Holzwagen

This collection of Arts & Crafts style furniture and accessories contains a broad range of pieces for the reader to construct. With varying degrees of complexity, from a simple desk top book rack to a Greene & Greene hall table; Mr. Lang brings out the details in each piece and how to construct it in a clear and easy to follow process. The drawings and photos are explicit in content and a joy to work from.

With introductions of each project, we get a background of the piece and a sense of it's place in the Arts & Crafts era. As a woodworker and aficionado of Arts & Crafts furniture I find this a great book to build pieces from. It also provides a great reference for those wanting to learn more about the intricacies of Stickley, Greene & Greene furniture construction and it has a Byrdcliffe piece thrown in as well!

With many other references and books of plans already in my A&C library, I find this a welcome addition to use and show to others what Arts & Crafts furniture truly is.
